Puy du Fou is a re-enactment of the history of the Vendée at different periods through shows which brings in some 1.45 million visitors every year.
For example, The Battle of the Keep is set in front of the battlements of a Middle Age Castle. It relates the story of a young shepherdess who must defend her donjon alone from the English knights, helped by a lance with supernatural powers etc…
The famous story of Richelieu's Musketeers, not a mystical story but a part of the history of the Vendée as Richelieu was Cardinal in Luçon! This performance includes swash-buckling, sword fighting and Gypsy girls Flamenco dancing in water. Horses also perform special trotting / jumping techniques. This show is performed in complete darkness, indoors.
Well worth a visit as it is a magnificent place, just 37kms minutes from the B&B of Domaine du Revêtison!
